You read that right. Even the most interior space – in an office building, a school or a healthcare facility – can now feel like the outdoors. How is that possible? Four words: Cadiant™ Dynamic Lighting Experience.
The Cadiant™ Dynamic Skylight is an industry-first luminaire that recreates the sensation of being under a natural sky for an interior lighting experience that’s as smart as it is visually stunning. Using advanced lighting controls and color-changing technology, the Cadiant™ Dynamic Skylight mimics the actual dawn-to-dusk, east-to-west movement of the sun, helping people create a connection to the natural rhythm of the day.
Why is this important?
Evidence suggests mood, sense of well-being, productivity and cognition might all benefit from lighting that tracks the solar day. A recent Harvard University survey1 also found that the number one thing employees desire in a workspace is access to natural light. Previously, building trends focused on optimizing structure functions, such as automating a building’s HVAC and security operations. However, the focus is now shifting to optimizing for people because everyone from leading employers to public health officials to educators now realize the built environment has an enormous impact on health and well-being.
The Cadiant™ Dynamic Skylight supports wellness, productivity and the natural rhythms of the day by providing a valuable sensory connection to the outdoors in spaces where access to natural lighting through windows is improbable, impractical or impossible. Whether people are in conference rooms, waiting rooms or classrooms, they can experience the feeling of being under a natural sky despite being indoors.
But isn’t it just a skylight?
Cadiant™ is more than a skylight…it’s an experience – and an incredibly complex combination of art and science.
Featuring an innovative, proprietary design, the Cadiant™ Dynamic Skylight uses separate LED panels to recreate the sensation of natural sunlight and a blue sky in interior spaces. The top LED panel represents the sky and can vary from the extreme blue of a clear day to the gray blue of overcast conditions. The inner LED side panels shift between warm and cool color temperatures, mimicking the sun’s natural dawn-to-dusk movement of the day. With unmatched vertical and horizontal footcandles, visual acuity and comfort are enhanced, while the deep 8” recess looks like a portal to the “sky” and creates shadows and light distribution similar to actual daylight.
When recreating natural light, true color is important. The Cadiant™ luminaire is TM-30 tested and approved. This dynamic lighting experience has a high color fidelity of >90 and a high gamut index of 100 across the color spectrum to enhance the designs for education, office and healthcare spaces. It also measures high for Rf Skin, so people will always look their best in this light!
Enabled with SmartCast® Technology, the Cadiant™ Dynamic Skylight takes advanced lighting control and color changing capabilities to the next level. A wall-mounted touchscreen provides fingertip control over multiple luminaires – including connecting to other nearby fixtures so they can harmonize with the illumination changes from Cadiant™ luminaires to help designers create an overall scene that fits the needs of any space. Dawn, Morning, Midday, Afternoon and Evening presets are standard, and users can easily save their own presets for simple control over the light levels and color profiles. Furthermore, the standalone system has code-compliant controls and automated set-up and commissioning, eliminating IT hassles and specification roadblocks.
And unlike an actual skylight, the Cadiant™ luminaire has no leaks, yellowing, hazing or grime, and beats a virtual skylight’s expensive designs requiring extravagant plenums.
There you have it. The Cadiant™ Dynamic Lighting Experience can make even the most interior space feel like a day outdoors. And it’s available for order now.
